Simon was born in 1960 and after attending the Latymer School, Edmonton, went on to study music at Christ Church, Oxford under Simon Preston and Francis Grier. He studied organ with Richard Popplewell, Nicholas Danby and Anne Marsden-Thomas. He has given numerous organ recitals and includes concertos by Haydn, Handel and Poulenc as well as Bach harpsichord concertos amongst his repertoire. He has conducted the Bourne Singers in North London and the Ripieno choir in Surrey, and from 1987-1996 was Conductor and Musical Director of the Enfield Choral Society. Memorable concerts included The Dream of Gerontius, Requiem settings by Mozart, Brahms and Duruflé as well as the Poulenc Gloria. He continues his link with Enfield as Vice President and by returning to play for several of their concerts. He has also played organ for East Surrey Choral Society concerts.

Simon is currently Head of Lower School, and Assistant Director of Music at Emanuel School, an independent day school in Wandsworth. He was elected a Council member of the Association of British Choral Directors in August. As part of his work for ABCD he organises the annual "Singposium" event at the South Bank centre in association with Music for Youth, an inset day for those who work with Choirs in Education. SCS is fortunate to have a Music Director of imagination and excellent musicality.
